What are Facial Fillers?
Facial fillers are injectable aesthetic treatments used to correct moderate to severe wrinkles and add volume to the face and lips. They are best suited to treat wrinkles, fine lines, and skin laxity that is the result of lost collagen. While most facial fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, brands like Sculptra® are formulated with different compounds. Because the results of these injections are not permanent, repeated treatments are required to maintain any changes.
Restylane® adds volume and fullness to the skin using hyaluronic acid. It provides immediate correction to moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, particularly the nasolabial folds, with results that typically last for 6-12 months.
Part of the Restylane® line of reputable dermal fillers, Restylane® Lyft is the first and only FDA-approved facial filler that provides both lift to the cheeks and volume to smooth out nasolabial folds. Twelve months after treatment, 73% of patients reported being satisfied with the results of their Restylane® Lyft injection. This treatment is an excellent option for individuals interested in correcting deep set wrinkles. This is because Restylane® Lyft has a larger average particle size than other Restylane® products and is injected deeper into the dermis.
This dermal filler is designed specifically for use on the lips. It is the first and only FDA-approved product of its kind that is designed for lip enhancement. Like other Restylane® products, Restylane® Silk is formulated with hyaluronic acid. 59% of the patients who received Restylane® Silk injections maintained improvements in lip fullness six months after treatment.
Able to provide between 9-12 months of correction of moderate to severe wrinkles, JUVEDERM® is an extremely popular hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler. It can be used to correct crow’s feet, forehead wrinkles, marionette lines, and smile lines. Unlike many other injectables, JUVEDERM® can be mixed with lidocaine, a mild anesthetic that improves patient comfort during injections.
Sculptra® has been FDA-approved for the correction of shallow to deep facial wrinkles and folds since 2009. Unlike many other facial fillers, Sculptra® is made of poly-L-lactic acid instead of hyaluronic acid. It works by stimulating the production of lost collagen over time. After a set of three injection appointments spaced 6-10 weeks apart, patients experience an improved appearance in tone, tightness, and overall quality of their skin that lasts up to two years.
